Moto G (2014) Unlocking Bootloader + Rooting + Flashing TWRP + Backup Stock ROM [UPDATED]

Unlocking Bootloader (Compulsory)

1. Users with LOCKED bootloaders will have to first UNLOCK their bootloaders before proceeding, this will void your WARRANTY.
2. After UNLOCKING the bootloader your phone's internal storage will be erased. Your installed apps and data in internal storage will be wiped completely. Before proceeding make sure you backup your apps. contacts, SMS and move your data from internal storage to external sdcard or PC. Use 'SuperBackup' App from Playstore and move the backup files to external sdcard.
3. Users with UNLOCKED bootloaders need not worry as this process will only root the devices and not wipe anything from the internal storage. Just ignore step 1,2 & proceed further.

Backup Stock ROM (Incase of bootloop in future)

1. Switch off the phone & enter into Fastboot mode by pressing & holding down Volume Down Key and Power Key together and releasing it after 3-4 seconds.
2. Press 'Volume Down' to scroll down & press 'Volume Up' to select 'Recovery' Option. You will now boot into TWRP.
3. Click on 'Backup' option. You can rename your backup by clicking on 'Backup Name' on the top of the screen.
4. Select 'System', 'Boot' & 'PDS' partitions. These 3 are the most important partitions needed to restore the phone back to stock if anything goes wrong in the future. 'System' partition contains the Operating System, 'Data' partitions contains the installed apps, 'Cache' contains temporary files which are not needed, 'PDS partition' contains the cell radio and baseband files needed for network.
5. You can select "Enable Compression" to enable compression to save space, this will take more time while restoring the backup.
6. You can select 'Storage' option from the bottom of the recovery screen where to store your backup files. I prefer storing it in my external sdcard.
7. After selecting your desired options, swipe the slider to start the backup process. It will take around 2-3 minutes depending upon the size of the files.
8. After the files have been backed up, you are now completely safe.
9. To restore your phone follow step 1,2 and click on 'Restore' option. Select your backup to restore and swipe the slider to restore.

Congratulations !
You have successfully unlocked, rooted, flashed TWRP and backed up the Stock ROM of your phone.
